SHTC Theologians participated in Summer Time Youth Ministry

Guwahati, Jul. 5. Fifteen brothers doing their theological studies at Sacred Heart Theological College, Mawlai took part in the four-day 'Summer Time Youth Ministry' training programme organized by the three North East provinces of Guwahati, Silchar and Dimapur from 1 to 5 July, 2016 at Don Bosco Institute, Guwahati. The camp was organized to train the brothers in order to animate programmes in different Salesian centres of the three provinces.
The programme was inaugurated by Father Francis Cheeramben SDB, Parish Priest of St. Joseph's co-cathedral, Panbazar. In his inaugural message he invited the participants to make use of the training sessions to learn the Salesian Youth Ministry and become experts in animating the young people. ''Young people today are too busy with the world, this programme should help you to interact with them and gave them a spiritual experience,'' Father Francis said.

Different sessions were organized during the days of the training programmes. The sessions were meant to prepare and help the animators to go into the fields and animate the team leaders and other participants. The topics includes: Salesian Youth Ministry, Youth Counselling, Understanding Youth People in Today's Context, New Perspective in Youth Ministry: A Qualitative Response, Youth and Social Media, Youth and Life Skills, Salesian Youth Ministry etc. The participants were also given a  training session on Youth Ministry'.

At the conclusion of the training programme the brothers will move to the different Salesian parishes and centres of the three provinces to animate the youth. A group of sisters also joined in the training programme. Father Johnson Parackal, the Executive Director Don Bosco Institute (DBI) concluded the TOT of the Summer Time Youth Ministry. He encouraged the brothers to give their best while animating the young people in the various centres.
