Don Bosco Anbu Illam initiates Child Line Contact Centre

Tiruchy, Oct. 29. Child Line 1098 has been functioning for children in distress for the past 16 years in Coimbatore Don Bosco Anbu Illam. In the last six months, 30 children - victims of sexual abuse, child marriage, begging children and child labourers were rescued in Pollachi by Child Line and provided rehabilitation.
There is a significant rise in the number of calls to Child Line regarding sexually abused children, child marriage, begging children. In order to rescue children in Pollachi, Child line contact centre was established by Kovai Child Line with the support of Pollachi Municipality, on October 28, 2015. The centre was inaugurated by Mr.V.Krishna Kumar, Chairman, Pollachi Municipality. Through this centre, awareness will be created in Pollachi bus stand and surrounding areas for the rescue of begging children, child labourers, sexually abused children and efforts will be taken for their rehabilitation.
Pollachi Municipal Commissionner, Police Dept., were thanked for their valuable support. Child Line invited all the stakeholders- Government Departments, Press, bus stand employees, auto drivers, and public to join them in their efforts to rescue children.
