Rescued Child labourers celebrate Feast of Don Bosco at Ramanthapur By Fr SudhakarHyderabad, Feb. 2. The annual feast of Don Bosco on 31 January was celebrated with a difference at Don Bosco Rehabilitation Centre (DBRC), Ramanthapur, Hyderabad. Children who had been rescued from bangle industry from the Old City, Hyderabad had been brought to DBRC on 24 January. ''This year they were our special guests for the feast of Don Bosco. We were blessed to have them amidst us'', said the director of DBRC Fr. Sudhakar.
''We approached Mr Imtiyas, District Child Protection Offer (DCPO) of Hyderabad to allow them to be with us for the cultural programme staged by our children on the occasion of the feast of Don Bosco and for the special meal served for these children. He was kind enough permit them to be with us,'' explained Fr. Sudhakar.
The children were welcomed to the celebrations with a Band piece and Navajeevan theme dance by the inmates of Navajeevan. The Director of Don Bosco Navajeevan Homes Fr Bellamkonda Sudhakar, welcomed every one for the programme and wished all a happy feast of Don Bosco. In his message, he called upon those present to be alert in order to protect the children. He invited them to pass on the information about Child Line No. 1098, a toll free number that can be used to request for help to save children in difficulties and who are in need of care and protection.
A Lucky dip was organized during the function in order to raise funds for the education of the children. The children of Ramanthapur performed colourful dances for these rescued children. Evidently they were very happy and enjoyed every bit of the programme.
The Provincial of Hyderabad province made a visit to Ramanthapur to wish the Salesians and the children for the feast. He interacted and spend time with these children. He also congratulated the community for going out of their way to take care of these children.
The Feast Day Mass was celebrated by Fr Thathireddy Vijay Bhaskar, Vice Provincial at Don Bosco Navajeevan, Nampally.
