Shillong, Aug. 25. At Don Bosco Sunnyside Upper Shillong, it was a unique combination of Salesian Co-operators and Novices that together inaugurated the Bicentenary year of Don Bosco's Birth. The Salesian Co-operators of 3rd Mile Circle joined the Novices and Staff of Sunnyside on the morning of 16th August 2014, for the Solemn Holy Eucharist and the hoisting of the Bicentenary Flag that followed.
The Holy Mass presided over by Fr. L. B. Anthony, the Novice Master and concelebrated by Fr. John Mathew, Fr. V. K. Jose and Fr. Anugrah Kerketta set the tone of the day's proceedings. After the Mass the Novice Master and a representative of the Cooperators hoisted the Bicentenary flag in the presence of the Novitiate community and the Salesian Cooperators of 3rd Mile Circle (Sunnyside).

In the afternoon, the Salesian family and the neighboring communities of St. Xavier's Minor Seminary community, St. Paul's Seminary, Apostolic Carmelite Convent, Contemplative Sisters of Divine Mercy, Sister of Ancillae Secular Institute and some friends and well-wishers joined the Sunnyside community for Tea which was followed by a cultural programme put up by the SDB novices, the VSDB Novices and the Salesian Cooperators. Notable among the many items put up was the one-act Play, ''An Afternoon at the Shoemakers'' staged by the SDB novices. Around 150 invitees attended the program that lasted over two hours.
