Anbu Illam Salem holds Kids Talent Expo

Tiruchy, Dec. 11. Don Bosco Anbu Illam, Salem organized a ''Kids Talent Expo 2013'' on 1 December 2013 at Moovendhar Arangam, Salem, for all the kids of the town. Nearly 2500 Children enthusiastically participated in the various competitions, such as Chess, Carrom, Drawing, Singing, Dance, Yoga and Young Scientist award held there. Children came in thousands accompanied by their parents for the talent expo. The event was organized as Anbu Illam is celebrating the Silver Jubilee Year (1988-2013) of its work for the street and marginalized youth and children.
The Kids Talent Expo was a big success, gauging from huge crowd that had gathered for the celebration. Prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners in the evening, during the Jubilee felicitation program me. Along with the talent show there were also various exhibitions displayed as a treat to students' interest and knowledge. The exhibitions comprised of Science Show, Coin Show, Salem Heritage Sites, Medicinal Plants Show, Art Exhibits, Bird Watch and Puppet Show. Selected best children movies were also screened for them. The talent expo was held from 09.00am to 05.00pm.

Don Bosco Anbu Illam's work for the street children & youth in Salem city actually began in 1988. Now it has grown to be one of the leading child rights organizations in the district of Salem in Tamil Nadu. The services Anbu Illam render to these unfortunate children include rescue, restoration, rehabilitation and reformation. Anbu Illam also provides vocational training to young men and women and non-formal education to the school drop-outs. Thus the institution visualizes creating through its mission, a just and equal society based on harmony and universal brotherhood.
