Vaclav Klement SDB, for a meeting on ''Missionary Synergy Building'' for South Asia, 9-11 November.
The meeting held at Don Bosco Provincial House in Dimapur, Nagaland had the theme: ''Mysticism and Mission.''
''The topic 'Mystics - Missionaries' taken from the Salesian General Chapter 27 scheduled to be held next year was also taken up during the Conference of Religious India (Guwahati, Nov 7-9) as a challenge for deeper God-experience as the main motivation and driving force of the Missions,'' said the General Councilor for Salesian missions Fr Vaclav Klement.
Fr Klement added, ''as the most dynamic and growing region, in past 5 years, they took up many steps in the missionary animation.''
''We count now about 60 missionary groups which people pray for the missionaries and the missions (both in formation houses and in our apostolic works), and try to share their faith with others,'' he said citing signs of progress.
''Two newly opened missionary aspirantates (Assam and Tamil Nadu) for over seas missions brings another fresh wind to the region,'' he added.
The speakers at the seminar included Salesian Family members along with two Salesian Bishops (Menamparampil and Palliparambil) and General Councilor for the missions, as well as two Jesus Youth members.
In the concluding statement released after the three day meet, the delegates affirmed that ''being a missionary is essentially being a mystic (having the heart of God); and that we need to work together as a Salesian Family to reach out to the unreached.''
They also declare that ''we are committed to our personal call to be mystics; and work together by having animation programmes at the South Asian Regional, inter-provincial and provincial levels, sharing animation materials; and praying for each other and for the missions.''
