Circus show by Snehalaya children By Saikh Md Sabah Al-AhmedGuwahati, Oct. 10. The young children of Snehalaya put up a mesmerising circus show at Don Bosco Technical School, Maligaon on the evening of October 6, 2013, in the presence of a huge crowd of people from in and around the city of Guwahati, including some from abroad who braved the inclement weather conditions to attend the show.
The whole programme was organised by the Child Aid Network, Germany. The chief executive of the Child Aid network, Dr. Martin Kasper was personally present on the occasion.
He described the show by the children as ''superb.''
A team of eight enthusiastic young men and women from Germany's Waldoni Circus had conducted a two-week training programme for the children of Snehalaya in acrobatics, tight-rope walking, trapeze, diabolo, spinning plates and juggling.
The circus show that lasted for about two hours was performed by 70 children, both boys and girls from Snehalaya homes for children in need of care and protection.
The high-point of the show was the unicycle performance by the young boys. Riding cycles with only one wheel and no handle bar, the children mesmerized the spectators who cheered the performers with thunderous applauses.
The special guest for the occasion was Ms. Tarali Sharma, an accomplished Assamese singer, music director and a celebrity.
Fr. Benny Alex, the Director of Don Bosco Technical School, Maligaon welcomed all the guests and participants.
Fr. Lukose, the Director of Snehalaya thanked all the organisers, the children and their trainers, as well as the spectators. It was an opportunity for the people of the city to witness such a unique performance by children before a huge crowd of people. It proved that even the marginalized children, with adequate training, can excel in life.
