Guwahati, Sep. 22.  Archbishop John Moolachira of Guwhati visited Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) for the Sunday Eucharist with the University community, 22 September. He presided over the Eucharist along with the Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor and 10 other concelebrant priests comprising of students, faculty and university officials.

Marking the year of faith, he administered the sacrament of confirmation to 11 people, both students and staff.
On Saturday, Archbishop Mollachira was in the University to participate at the second annual convocation.

''I am in deed proud to be associated with one of the most important institutions in the diocese, Don Bosco University, a place of much intellectual ferment,' said the archbishop in whose diocese is located the first Catholic University in the country established in 2008.

Reflecting on the readings of the liturgy, in his homily the archbishop called on the students ''to invest their time to acquire habits of honesty, hard work and fear of God.''

After explaining the various steps in the administration of confirmation, archbishop reminded the recipients of the need ''to stand for one's faith, for our Master Jesus Christ, and be willing to lay down one's life.''

Commenting on the symbolic slap on the cheek after the administration of confirmation, archbishop said ''it is a sign of readiness and willingness to suffer.''

Soon after the Eucharist, archbishop handed over the confirmation certificates to each of the newly confirmed along with ''Baisc Catechism Handbook.''

The senior most member of the confirmation group, Mrs Teresa Hauhnar presented the archbishop Don Bosco University's official scarf as a sign of appreciation.

The ADBU Campus ministry department with its director Dr Francis Fernandez and his team coordinated the preparation of the candidates for confirmation, as well as the preparations for the solemn liturgy, including the university choir
