Kolkata, Sep. 17. .  SUDAN:  Fr. Patrick Soreng, a Salesian Missionary in Africa, passed away unexpectedly at Juba, South Sudan, on 16 September 2013. He was a member of the Eastern Africa St John Bosco Province, and attached to the Salesian community at Juba.
Fr Gianni Rolandi, SDB, the Provincial Superior writes: ''With sadness and in the spirit of faith, I have to inform you of the sudden death of Fr Patrick Soreng, of the Juba community. The scanty news we have now say that this morning he was found in his room and he 'had no pulse'. He was rushed to the hospital in Juba and there he was pronounced dead.''

Fr. Soreng was 61 years old, and went to Africa when he was a member of the Province of Guwahati. He had made his first profession in 1979, and was ordained a Salesian priest in 1987.

May his soul rest in Peace!
