Bangalore, Sep. 3. Fr. Paul Puthanangady who had a fall on 30th August and suffered a hip-bone fracture had been admitted to Lissie Hospital, Ernakulam for a special surgery. The doctors had suggested the insertion of a steel rod to hold his bone in place. He underwent a surgery on 2 September. Fr. Alex Kalathikattil, Rector of Don Bosco Aluva, has shared with BIS the following update on the condition of Fr. Paul.
''The operation of Fr. Paul Puthanangady was successfully completed yesterday morning. He was taken to the operation theatre around 9.00 in the morning and was brought out by 11.00 am. He was shifted to the room in the afternoon. Considering the rather delicate health condition of Fr. Paul the doctors opted for a very simple procedure. They have assured us that he will be able to sit up after some time.

''It may take him a few weeks before he can give weight on his leg. His health, in general, continues to be rather delicate. He is hardly able to take in any food, except for some liquid food, mostly fruit juice. Even the little he takes, he is not able to retain. When we met him yesterday evening he asked us to thank all the confreres and friends for all the prayers said for him. Please do continue to support him with your prayers.''

Fr. Puthanangady is currently in Lissie Hospital, Ernakulam (Room No. 162). He is happy to have visitors.
