Dimapur, Oct. 26. It was a day of immense joy and happiness for Don Bosco College Maram, Manipur, as the news broke out that Sr. Arpita Theresa SMMI (Stella Thomas), an assistant professor and NSS Programme Officer of Unit I, along with the Unit have been nominated for Indira Gandhi National Service Scheme Award for 2011-2012.
The college  organized a short felicitation programme to congratulate Sr. Arpita for being nominated for the meritorious national award. It can be rightly said that her selfless service to the NSS Unit and her dedicated service for the upliftment of the society has borne hundredfold fruit. It is also a day to be written in Golden Letters in the history of Don Bosco College Maram.

Fr. Benny James the Principal, Dr. Fr. KO Sebastian the Rector, and all the assistant professors expressed their profound appreciation to the awardee. The recipient in her speech pointed out to the students that real leadership is not about prestige, power or status, rather it is about responsibility. She said that enthusiasm is one of the key ingredients for a life time of successful living. In her concluding message she exhorted the students to set priorities in life. ''What should come first should be given the first place.'' Focus on God above all, and the rest will fall in line, she said. She also expressed her profound gratitude to the institution, programme coordinators and NSS volunteers and all others related to the programme.

This prestigious award is awarded to an individual who has completed two years as a programme officer and who has done commendable service in the field of social and community activities. Unit I of the College has also been selected for the same award. The IGNSS awardee will be receiving the prestigious award on 19 of November from the Hon'ble President of India.
