Don Bosco Tech Trasi Tracks its Trained Youth

Panjim, Oct. 4. The impact of DBTECH in Trasi was very evident as 250 alumni gathered in gratitude for an Alumni program organized on 30th September in the presence of Fr. George Quadros (Asst Director of DBTech India), Mr Belladi Shankar Shetty (President of Taluk Panchayat, Kundapur Taluk), and the local coordinators Fr Anand Noronha (Rector & Principal), Fr Leo Pereira (Director), and Mr Vincent Fernandes (State Coordinator).
Fr. Quadros, congratulating the center for tracking of trained trainees, said that the number of alumni present speaks for itself. He complimented the centre for being the best point of training, documentation and tracking.

DB Tech India has trained 46,000 youth all over India, of which a good number of 34,000 are working. Others are pursuing studies while still others are in self employment. He congratulated also the youth gathered for undergoing training at this center. He informed them that the details of every candidate trained is available on the web site: www.donboscodatabank.in.

On this occasion Fr. Quadros also launched the ''Don Bosco youth helpline card'', a toll free phone service that the youth, especially those unemployed, could avail of for counseling and job seeking. The number to be dialled is 1800-208-5555. A demo was given as to how the helpline is to be used. He further added that the youth having the card would be able to obtain 25% concession if they intend pursuing higher studies and technical training that is available at any Don Bosco Center in India.

The Guest of Honour, Mr. Belladi Shanker Shetty, President of Taluk Panchayath, Kundapur, expressing his gratitude to Don Bosco Tech, said that he was very grateful to Don Bosco who is reaching out to the youth in the rural areas and particularly those belonging to the BPL class. Appreciating the work of the institute and management he said that he would inform the youth via the Panchayaths to take training in the courses offered here.

Fr. Anand Noronha, congratulated the Director and trainers for their dedication and hard work. He congratulated the youth too for joining the work force and for bringing about a change in their lives and in the lives of their families.

Mr. Vincent Fernandes exhorted the youth to have a goal in life and spoke of the need to strive in achieving that goal. He pointed out that Don Bosco himself helped youth to look for a life that was sustaining and stable. ''The need to work for a purpose in life is the key to a successful living'', he added.

The Hotel Management Practical Lab was inaugurated by Mr. Belladi Shanker Shetty in the presence of other dignitaries. Later lunch was prepared and served by the Hotel Management trainees. The up-gradation and infrastructure of the Practical Lab was subsidized by DBTech, New Delhi National Office.

Towards the end of the progrmame Fr. George Quadros along with other dignitaries distributed Certificates and Demand Drafts worth Rs. 5,26,000/- to the beneficiaries of the project. This was an incentive given by DB Tech India to encourage the youth to continue working hard and to achieve their goals.
