Skill Development Training Program under BOSCH India Foundation- 5th Batch

Panjim, Aug. 17. Rev. Fr. Ian Figueiredo, the Provincial of the Konkan Province spoke about the present trend of the youth and insisted about the importance of the technical know-how which is the key for successful and sustainable living.
The Inauguration cum Parents Meeting of the 5th batch of the Skill Development Training Program under BOSCH India Foundation for three months was held on at Don Bosco Tech, Trasi.

    The Honourable Chief Guest Most Rev. Fr. Ian Figueiredo, the Provincial of Konkan Province inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp.  In his inaugural address, Rev. Fr. Ian spoke about the present trend of the youth and insisted about the importance of the technical know-how which is the key for a successful living.  He also congratulated the trainers for their dedication and hard work which has brought creditability and fame to the technical institute. He later thanked the Salesian community for taking the initiative to help the rural youth in technical formation and also through life skills that help in becoming self-reliant and honest citizens. Addressing the parents gathered for the occasion, he requested the parents to encourage their children in this field, so as to enable them to become confident in facing life and leading a sustainable life.

    Rev. Fr. Anand Noronha, Principal & Rector of Don Bosco Trasi, who later spoke, congratulated the director Rev. Fr. Leo Pereira for the hard work and for moving ahead with four batches almost reaching to 350 youth who have been beneficiaries of the project. Addressing the trainees and the parents he said, ''Give the child a fish and he will live for a day, teach him to fish and he will live for a life time''. He emphasized the need for skill training and moral formation to live a sustainable and empowered life.

Rev. Fr. Paul D'souza, Vice Provincial of the Konkan Province, Rev. Fr. Anil Carnileo Parish Priest of Trasi, and Rev. Fr. Leo Pereira, The Director along with the parent's representative were present on the dais.

    The Director, Rev. Fr. Leo Pereira, then shared his experience of the previous batches of trainees and thanked the parents/guardians for sending their children to benefit from this programme and encouraged them to achieve a bright future in their career. Mention was made of the trainees who have already completed the training and are presently working in various well-known Multi National companies like Kirloskar, Maruti, Anand Honda, Popular Bajaj, Titan, Pizza Hut, The Taj, Hotel Mothi Mahal, Turtle Bay Resort etc.,

Ms. Jacintha, then briefed the parents on how the trainees evaluation was done. The same was based on the following criteria:
1. Regular attendance.
2. Weekly & Monthly evaluation.
3. Their knowledge in Communicative English & Computers.
4. Their behaviour within the campus and outside the campus.
5. Interview skills.
6. Following rules and regulation of the institute
7. Mention was made of the placement, accommodation etc. ...

Mr. Nicky Lopes, a trainee from Hospitality was the compere for the program. The Inauguration cum parents meeting ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
