Mumbai, May. 26. Fr. Michael Fernandes, Provincial of the Mumbai Province, officially installed Fr. Ian Doulton as the New Rector of the Provincial House Community on May 25, 2012. At a simple yet very meaningful ceremony, in the presence of the entire community, Fr. Doulton pledged to lead the Provincial House community in accordance with the great Salesian tradition and legacy left us by Don Bosco.
The ceremony began with a few words of introduction by the Provincial. Fr. Ajoy Fernandes, Vice-Provincial enlightened the community on the animating presence of the Rector and the important role that the Provincial House plays in the province especially in Animation, Hospitality and Care for the Sick confreres.
In a very symbolic gesture, the new rector was presented the keys of the Tabernacle and the Manual for Rectors. In a world of i-phones, i-tabs, i-pads, we at Provincial house can boast of an i-rector. Ian brings to the community his vast Salesian experience as animator, friend, counsellor, spiritual guide, writer, musician, together with his wide knowledge, generous availability and deep discipline.
Fr. Provincial took the opportunity to say a sincere word of appreciation to the out going rector, Fr. Wilfred D'Souza and to Fr. Brian Moras, the vocation promoter of the Province.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Fr. Ferrington Rayan, Delegate for Sudan, and Salesians from the neighbouring Don Bosco Matunga community.
