Children campaign for RTE on YaR day

Tiruchy, Nov. 27. The YaR day was celebrated on November 21, 2011 in Vilathikulam by the Children's Parliaments. 180 children participated in this campaign.
The rally was flagged off by Fr. Ricopar, the Director of VEMBU. The objective of the rally and street corner campaign was to make the children and the public aware of child rights and especially the Right to Education Act 2009. After the rally the children gathered near the bus stand to convey the information of the rights of the Children. Eight Children spoke about the 'United Nations Convention on Child Rights'. They mainly focused on four major parts of UNCRC which insists on the right to live, right to develop, right to be protected and right to participate. The children raised their voice collectively against child labour practice, Child abuse and illiteracy. Children expressed their views and opinions regarding the Right to Education Act 2009. Most of the children shared their experience and sufferings they undergo due to lack of basic amenities in their schools. The rally grabbed the attention of the people with their music and slogans. The message was conveyed to the public by children was creatively attractive.
