Anbu Illam, Kavarapettai , welcomes Relic

Chennai, Nov. 17. Don Bosco Anbu Illam hosted a hearty welcome for the relic on morning of 16 November 2011. On this auspicious occasion, a newly constructed Language Lab and Motor Mechanic Division in the ITI were inaugurated. A mini-bus service for the ITI students was also launched.
At 11 am, on 16th November, the boys of Don Bosco Anbu Illam and the students of theology of Becchi gathered to receive the casket at Panpakkam Junction. The road leading to Anbu Illam was beautifully adorned with flags and banners hailing don Bosco. At the gate the relic was blessed by Fr. Vincent Xavier and Fr. Bellarmine, and Fr. Jayapalan, our provincial garlanded it.

At the brief function held at Don Bosco Industrial School, the newly constructed language lab was blessed by Fr. Provincial and inaugurated by Mr. Rajarathinam, MD of R.C. Constructions. The Motor Mechanic unit was inaugurated by Mr. Soundar and the mini-bus of the Industrial school was launched by Mr. Devasagayam, the former chief of the Tamil Nadu State Police Band.

The Industrial school at Kavarapettai is a unique institution as it hosts students who have dropped out of schools and helps them to learn a trade. The Anbu Illam boys and ITI boys had a prayer service during which each boy offered a rose to the relic as a sign of homage and made personal prayer. Fr. Jayapalan, the provincial, in his brief message to the boys explained the meaning of venerating the relic. The salesian community together with the provincial renewed their commitment to Salesian charism in the presence of the relic.
