Jubilant Celebration for the relic at SMA Generalate

Chennai, Nov. 15. Chennai 15 November 2011: It was a blissful experience for the flourishing congregation of the Sisters of Maria Auxiliatrix (SMA), as they received the relic of Don Bosco, in their generalate at Madahavaram on 14 November 2011. Sr. Jeyarani, the Mother General, and her sisters put up a grand welcome, and organized a Night Vigil in which  thousands of Catholics from St. Sebastian's Church, Madhavaram took part. A High mass was celebrated in the presence of the relic this morning, which coincided with the Birthday of Fr. M.C.Anthony, the founder of the SMA.
At 4.30 pm on 14th November, the SMA sisters, their SHG women, school children from Bosco Academy and the parishioners of Madavaram received the casket at Bosco Academy. A prayerful procession made its way to the Generalate. The procession was beautifully animated by Fr. Y. F. Bosco and the SMA Sisters. At the gate of the Generalate, Sr. Jeyarani, the Mother General, garlanded the casket and 12 sisters welcomed the relic with aarathi.

At 6.30 pm, Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr. Ignatius, the parish priest of Manali. Fr. Jeyapalan, Salesain Provincial of Chennai, while preaching the homily, touched on the simple and saintly life of Don Bosco. The mass was followed by cultural programmes which further enlightened the people about Don Bosco. There were programmes by Bosco Academy kids and students of St. Anthony's School. The Dance-Drama on the life of Don Bosco by SMA novices was very informative and highly artistic. The aspirants and sisters performed a Villupattu which was much appreciated by the audience.

Fr. Y.F. Bosco, the parish priest of Holy Family Shrine, organized a prayerful Night vigil service which was attended by the parishioners of St. Sebastians's Church Madhavaram. The youth, formation houses, and sisters all took turn to animate the vigil which lasted till 5 am. This morning at 6.00 am, Fr. Singarayar, the parish priest of Madhavarm, celebrated the Eucharist. It was also the birthday of Fr. M.C. Anthony, the founder of the SMA Congregation. Fr. Arulanandam SDB, in his homily lauded the life of Fr. M.C. Anthony, and the mission work carried out by the SMAs.
