Panjim, Aug. 22. No one can deny the immense excitement created in Goa with the visit of the relic of Don Bosco.
No one can deny the immense excitement created in Goa with the visit of the relic of Don Bosco. With crowds gathering on the road spontaneously with palm leaves and banners right from Mapusa to Panjim, surprised the salesians and the pastpupils who had chosen strategic locations for the relic to be venerated by neighbouring salesians institutes only.
The inaugural ceremony and Eucharist had over 3,000 people gathered in the indoor Oratory Auditorium. The placement of the relic on a separate stage, made it possible for continuous veneration of the relic, which was uninterrupted from 6.30am to 11pm. One could easily estimate over a lakh footfalls each day venerating Don Bosco on this pilgrimage through the province.
The same ripples continued through in Vasco and escalated further in Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda. The salesian and the local people themselves were taken by surprise with over 7,000 people gathering to welcome Don Bosco in the salesian house. Villages from Sanvordem, Cuncolim, Canacona, Chinninim that are way out on the periphery spontaneously organized their own transport to pay homage to the father of youth.
Numerous pilgrims were from other faiths who had gathered around to be in the holy presence and receive heavenly blessings. Word had spread around of the sanctity of the relic, and the sporadic miraculous blessing to Christians and non-Christians alike.  Even as the relic moved on from  Panjim to Vasco, many thronged from Mapusa, Ponda and Pernem to pay homage, and realizing the relic was shifted drove the extra 30kms to pay their respects.
Don Bosco is a name synonymous with education and Youth, here in Goa. It is taking a new form now, with the visit of the relic, adding to it the more powerful spiritual intercession, which is not reserved only to Christians but to all faiths, as in the former.
