ASSAM RIFLE SAVES THE SKIDDED TRUCK CONTAINING THE CASKET

Guwahati, Jun. 17. Agartala, June 16: A timely intervention by the Assam Rifle's recovery van saved the truck containing the casket from skidding off from the road. It was a harrowing time for the driver of the truck containing the relic of St. John Bosco as the multitude that gathered to honour Don Bosco was so huge that there was no place anywhere in the church or outside, so much so, the truck skidded off the road.
Don Bosco Bishramganj is the parish began by the Salesians of Don Bosco in the year 1995, dividing the oldest parish of Mariamnagar. The total area of the parish is around 2000 sq. kms and has a population of over 1,50,000 people spread over 450 villages. It is predominantly a tribal area. The parish centre was shifted from Pathaliaghat in 2002 to Bishramganj. The main languages spoken by the people are Bengali, Kokborok and Molsom. The Catholics today number about 2500, spread out in 34 villages.
Being a rainy day the fresh pasty red mud had not settled. It was a horror for the people as well as the drivers of vehicles to enter the compound. Still Don Bosco's relic received a very hearty welcome from the Salesians led by Fr. Remol R. Marak and Fr. K.K. Jose, the assistant parish priests and  all the enthusiastic past pupils who literally carried Don Bosco to the Hall.
