KHLIEHRIAT WELCOMES DON BOSCO WITH A BANG

Guwahati, Jun. 17. Shillong, June 17: This evening around 6.30 pm the sacred Relic of Don Bosco, journeying through 131 countries arrived in the township of Khliehriat in Jaintia Hills District of Meghalaya about 130 kms away from Shillong amidst great rejoicing of the whole population. Shri E.C. Boniface Bamon,the Local MLA, Shri Amos Dkhar Ex CEM Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council, Shri Hambertus Nongtdu Ex CEM, JHADC, Shri Ethelbert Kharmalki, MCS were present to welcome Don Bosco together with Rev. Fr. John Mathew, the Parish Priest and other priests, religious and faithful.
The people in large numbers in cars and jeeps arrived at the border of Meghalaya, to welcome Don Bosco into their land. The grand welcome began with the Ladies all in traditional attire with the scouts and guides of Holy Family School, in attendance as soon as the entourage arrived at Khliehriat town.
''Don Bosco is alive in heaven that is why he can be present with us''explained Fr. G.K. Warbah, encouraging the people and strengthening them in their faith in the resurrection from the dead.
Fr. Kenny Pakma said: ''Don Bosco had seen us all in his dream many years before he died. And so he sent his own sons and daughters to work in our area, in Jowai, Raliang, and Khliehriat. To this day, they have slogged to bring the good news of the kingdom to the people. Now he himself is here among us to confirm us in the faith.''
The sacred relic will remain in Khliehriat for a full day to enable the faithful to witness to the truth of the resurrection in their personal lives.
