The sacred relic reaches the Jaintia Hills

By John Basumatary
Guwahati, Jun. 10. Jowai, June 9: It is said, 'to a friends home, the road is never long'. The venerated relic of St. John Bosco left Shillong for the Jaintia hills today and reached Mawkyndeng, Raliang at 11 this morning. Bidding farewell to their father and founder the nuns of Auxilium convent, Nongthymmai gathered around the relic once more with gratitude before their loving father. The Meghalaya police doing their bid as respect to the saint escorted the relic casket up to Raliang Don Bosco, Jowai.
The people's desire to honour the relic is so immense that the casket had to be stopped at Ummulong for few minutes. The casket had two other stoppages on the way at St. Theresa's Shrine, Jowai and Bosco Pnar, Jowai. The gathering of crowd to see Don Bosco is getting even louder as the casket tours the nook and corner of North-east where the Salesians work. The works of the Don Bosco society can be felt vehemently in this part of the world. People say that they are blessed due to the vision and mission of Don Bosco and Meghalaya is the biggest beneficiary of the works of the Salesian society in the North-east.
