Catechists trained to be more effective in the digital age

Dimapur, Mar. 15. Living, Learning and Leading in the Digital Age: A Training in Pastoral Communications for Catechists, Religion Teachers and Touring Sisters was held from 9 - 13 March, at Catholic Church, Dekhiajuli, in the diocese of Tezpur, for the 103 enthusiastic participants coming from six parishes of the diocese.
The three-day progamme specially designed for the group was conducted with the aim of creating awareness of the impact of media and the consequent challenges in pastoral ministry. It was organized by Bosco Communications, Dimapur, the media wing of the Salesian Province of Dimapur.

The resource person for the programme, was Fr. Tarcisius Toppo. The focus of the programme was give the participants adequate knowledge about the new digital environment as well as to empower them in the use of the media especially the low cost media in their ministry of preaching and animation of the local catholic communities. It was a well-packed programme where both theory and practice was combined to the benefit of the local leaders.

The course empowered them to read the signs of the times, gave them adequate knowledge and skills to deal with the new environment and make their ministry more effective as well as effectively use the low cost media like chart making, puppetry, drama, street play, shadow play, music and singing, dance, photo language, preaching, bhajans, films, etc.
