A DBCMaram Student Participates in Republic Day Parade

Dimapur, Feb. 17. DBCMaram 5 Feb 2011 ( www.dbcmaram.org ): In Don Bosco College, Maram, the opportunities are unlimited and the students make use of every bit of chance that they get to learn lessons for life and gather experience for a good living. Mr. Wekuzo Wezah, a BSc second year student along with Chuipuilu Thaimai, both from Don Bosco College, Maram, participated in Pre-Republic Day Camp in Sikkim from 1 to 10 Oct. 2010, which was organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. This camp was a preparatory cum selection for the Republic Day Camp 2011.
Mr. Wekuzo along with two girls out of eight NSS volunteers from Manipur were selected to represent the state of Manipur. There were eighty-two volunteers from Guwahati region from whom Mr.Wekuzo and sixteen other volunteers were selected for the Republic Day Parade Camp in New Delhi.
The 62 Republic Day Parade Camp was also organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports from 1 to 31 January 2011 under Smt. Saradz Ali Khan, the programme adviser of the NSS and Director (YA). The camp itself was an enriching experience for all the participants. They participants had long hours of parade practice, academic sessions, cultural programmes and they also visited some memorable and famous places of India like Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple, Humyun's  Tomb, Raj Ghat and Indian Gate. They also had the opportunity to interact with the first citizen of India namely the President, Prime Minister and Vice President.
The marching of the NSS lead by Ms. Princy Sharma from Luknow region on 26 January was so good that even the president of India gave a good comment on the performance of the NSS contingent. All the participants benefited much from this rigorous training and disciplining. The motivation that was instilled in them would remain with the participants for many more Republic Day Parades to come.
