Sonada, 21 February 2021: In a first time effort in the hills, academia-industry partnership initiative to empower tea garden women was launched on 21 February 2021.
Salesian College Sonada established in 1938 and the Tea Promoters India who own plantations in Darjeeling, Dooars, Assam and Kerala have launched a pilot project entitled: Women Empowerment in Tea Communities Workshop, to be spread out on five Sundays from 21 February to 21 March 2021.. Read More »

DBBM, Cradle of Salesian Formation Celebrates Golden Jubilee |

Don Bosco Bhavan Mannuthy, the cradle of Salesian formation for the Province of Bangalore, celebrated its Golden Jubilee of Foundation on January 30, 2021. Fr Joyce Thonikuzhiyil, Provincial, with Fr Jose Koyickal, Vice-provincial and the provincial designate, and Salesians, presided over the thanksgiving Holy Eucharist. Fifty lamps representing the fifty years were placed at the altar at the beginning of the Mass, reminding the fifty graceful and rays-filled years of Don Bosco Bhavan. Tears of joy rolled down the eyes of the mother Vijaya and father Thangaraja 48 as they took back their son Meganathan 22 whom they left with a locally powerful debtor along with his younger brother when they were barely ten and nine years of age.
