The Executive Committee of the Senior (Old) Bedean Association (Past pupils of St. Bede's) reached out to 100 poor families in 10 zones in and around Chennai supplying them with provisions and clothing. On 05 August, on the Foundation Day of the Salesian Province of Tiruchy, 'Retreat-Don Bosco' Yercaud completed the 21-day training course in Nursery and Nature Preservation 'Project CALLS' supported by Jugend Eine Welt of Austria and Don Bosco Network South Asia. Through this programme, people got to Learn-Work-Earn their livelihood.
Yercaud being a hill station, people earn their living through tourism and the travel industry. With the lockdown continuously extended, the people, especially in the hill-station left with nothing to survive, managed to learn, work and earn through the Shevaroyhills Tribal Development Institute [STDi]. . Every community centre with 10 students in attendance help to overcome the COVID-19 restrictions. Mumbai Salesians' Dominic Savio Andheri-Mumbai Alumni [Past Pupils], scored a century [100 days] of relentless COVID-19 Food Relief, reaching out to 01 million at 65 locations in Mumbai, as part of the 'Feed My Mumbai' campaign.
With the intention to ensure that no one sleeps hungry, freshly cooked nutritious meals to the disadvantaged needy were distributed by these past-pupils, volunteers and Salesians, stepping out of their homes bravely for a noble cause.
