The Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival (DBGYFF), the world's first Global Salesian film festival, was conducted on the premises of the Salesian headquarters of the Province of Chennai by the Don Bosco Institute of Communication Arts (DBICA) and Don Bosco Arts and Science College on December 11, 2021. Although the festival was scheduled for mid-November, the unexpected heavy rains in Chennai postponed the event to December with the same glory as planned earlier. Veteran film editor and National Film Award winner, B. Lenin, presided over the inaugural ceremony as the Chief Guest and Father Amirthraj Arokiam, SDB, writer, editor and publisher, as the guest of honour. . Read More

The St. Joseph's Socio-Cultural Organization (SSCO) at Laitkor Parish unveiled the bust of late Father Dr Sylvanus Sngi Lyngdoh, SDB, on the parish premises on November 6. Fr Sngi, a renowned Khasi priest, breathed his last on May 28, 2016. A known exorcist, missionary, author, and political and social thinker, Fr Sngi was born on January 3, 1921, in the Ri Bhoi district.. Read More

The General Councillor for Social Communication, Father Gildasio Mendes, inaugurated and declared open online the Salesian School of Social Communication (SSSC) on September 24, 2021. Introducing the vision and objectives of the year-long programme, Father Mendes highlighted September 24 as a historically significant day for the Salesian order. Salesian College Sonada hosted online the 12th Verzotto Memorial Lecture on Business Journalism by Joseph Rai on 22 September, here at Kallingal Auditorium. Verzotto memorial lecture is an annual event in honour of Father Joseph Verzotto, a Salesian priest and a great philosopher who taught ethics, metaphysics, psychology, epistemology and Indian philosophy at Salesian College apart from being the college librarian, counsellor, postman, fundraiser, and a philanthropist. He was also a biographer, literary essayist, film critique, translator and religious instructor. He died in Kolkata in 2009 at the age of 82. . Read More
