Chennai, Jul. 28. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has selected three students who are members of a sports training programme by Don Bosco Anbu Illam, the Social Service Society of the Salesian Province of Chennai, and the HCL Foundation, for special training. TNCA has chosen Jeni Plautila for U19 bowling and all-rounder, Madhumitha for U23 batting/all-rounder, both from Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Avadi, Chennai and Karthika for U19 bowling/all-rounder from Police Boys & Girls Club, Kannagi Nagar.
Don Bosco Anbu Illam, in partnership with HCL Foundation in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2018, had started a sports excellence programme for the slum children. There are 1500 students undergoing training as part of the programme. The proper monitoring and coaching in the past three years have moulded players with calibre. The physical, psychic, economic and emotional aspects of players are taken care of during the training programme. It is a crowning moment for DBAI and HCL Foundation as three of their wards go training under TNCA.

The Commissioner of Police of Greater Chennai Corporation, Shankar Jiwal, IPS, appreciated and acknowledged the commitment and hard work of the selected students. He handed over rupees ten thousand as an award with Father Joseph Leo, DBAI - Executive Director and C. Newton Raj, HCL Foundation, Deputy Manager, present.
