Chennai, Jun. 3. In a function held at the Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, to distribute Covid homecare medical kits and protein-enriched dry ration to Covid affected families in the region, Father John Alexander, Rector, presented the findings of the Covid-impact survey conducted by the college.
The survey revealed that 65% had lost regular income. Meanwhile, almost 80% are under fear and uncertainty about the future during this pandemic. Surprisingly, 92% have not yet received the vaccination, and 60% expressed unwillingness to receive the vaccine. The survey recommended concerted efforts by the government and Salesian communities to change the mindset of the people and ensure the availability of vaccines.

The SHC distributed Covid homecare medical kits and protein-enriched dry ration to 500 families on June 2, 2021, with the Tirupattur MLA Nallathambi, an SHC past-pupil, Bargur MLA Mathiyalagan and District Collector Sivanarul IAS and SP Vijay Kumar IPS present.

On behalf of the Chief Minister, the chief guests thanked SHC and Don Bosco Relief Services for establishing Covid Care Centres in Tirupattur and Chennai. The Covid Care Centres at MSW Block and Dominic Savio School have successfully treated more than 800 patients. As a run-up to the event, in a special vaccination camp at the SHC campus, 97 people, including Salesians, staff and students, received the vaccine, Covishield.

On this occasion, SHC presented the 'Award of Excellence' to Siddha Doctor Vikram for his dedicated service in treating more than 1500 patients in the Tirupattur district. Father Maria Antonyraj, the Principal, highlighted the profile and achievements of the recipient of the award to the public.
