Funeral of Fr. Herman - 8-6-2008

The funeral service began at 1 pm on Sunday, 8 June. It was held outdoors as even the large church of Nongthymmai did not have enough room for the numerous mourners. Archbishop Dominic Jala presided.

The funeral cortege to the Laithumkhrah cemetery took over an hour. The final goodbye by the people in the form of a handful of mud being dropped into the grave also took about the same time. The functions were remarkably well organised by Fr. Devasia and his large team of dedicated parishioners. ``A funeral like no other,`` remarked veteran missionaries, Frs. Larrea and Gervasis. The final rites at the cemetery were performed by Fr. Vice-Provincial.
