New Priests` Day Celebration of Dimapur Province at Rua Home, Jorhat
Dimapur Province felicitated its new priests at Rua Home, the aspirantate of the province at Jorhat on February 5 during an impressive programme. Fr. James Poonthuruthil, the provincial of Dimapur Province and twenty other priests from the province concelebrated the Holy Eucharist presided over by the new priests. Of the four new priests two, namely, Fr. Jose Karamullil and Fr. Paul Panii, belong to the Province of Dimapur and two others namely, Fr. Jaison Anthikkat and Anthony Mahimai Dass, belong to the Province of Bangalore.
The aspirants welcomed the new priest ceremonially with traditional songs and dances which was followed by a solemn Eucharistic celebration. During the homily, Fr. Jose thanked all those who helped the new priests to be what they are. He also said that during the fifteen years of formation they have faced many varying circumstances and they have been guided by the Lord and wished that they will still be lead by Him.
``We wish that the new priests be people who preach and practice what they preach,`` said Fr. James Poonthuruthil, the Provincial of Dimapur while addressing the gathering during the felicitation programme.
``As God sees us we can see God,`` said Fr. Paul Panii speaking during the felicitation programme. He further said that Jesus has shown us how we can see God and our mission is to emulate him and see God and show God to others.
The felicitation programme included dances, songs, choir and choreography performed by the aspirants. A fitting conclusion was given to the felicitation programme with a festive dinner.
