Dimapur, Dec. 10. What has Advent to do with the Human Rights?

We are really convinced that the education on Human Rights can help us to understand better the preventive system of Don Bosco i.e. to prevent from all that can put at risk the normal development of the lives of the youngster, their full social involvement, their capacity to create a world that is fair, more solid and healthy. And this is what captures our attention, that the formation to the Human Rights is an element that should today characterize the reality of our Salesian mission. (Fr. Pascual Chavez, Valdocco, 28th September 2008)
The Advent and the Human Rights
What has Advent to do with the Human Rights?
Advent means ``coming``
 the coming of Jesus on the earth
 the beginning of a new era, the coming of the Kingdom of God
 the coming of the Good News for all humanity
 the coming of the great Hope: God with us
Human Rights
It`s during the season of Advent, on 10th December 2008 that we celebrate  the 60th year of the signing of the document on Human Rights by all the Nations. This event represents:
 the beginning of a new project of brotherhood
 inauguration of a new social progress marked out by liberty
 a precious occasion to promote peace and unity
All these we believe, can be possible only by the grace of Jesus. His coming to this world over 2000 years ago gives hopes to the Human Rights. Here`s how Advent coincide with the Human Rights. All of us believe and want a world in which reigns brotherhood , love and peace, and we know that even the source of brotherhood and of peace is God because God is love.
For God said: ``Let`s make man in our own image and likeness``. Man is made in the image of God and so disrespecting the human rights signifies disrespecting God himself. Promoting Human Rights means promoting the thoughts of God to mankind. Each human person is a sacred history. And it is on this certainty that we want to make the face of God shine in every person.
