Chennai, Oct. 25. Teenagers love space and freedom

TEENAGERS DON`T JOIN HIP CROWD

Teens who want space and freedom to live their lives as per their own terms.  An individual`s right to the pursuit of happiness has come like a tidal wave to India and  youngsters do not want to be told what to do and what is out of bounds for them. Helpless parents are often forced by circumstances to surrender to this demand of freedom.

The idea of having fun has actually evolved over the years for teenagers. When they are in the slumber parties with their friends parents keep calling them is disgusting to them. This is what they call it freedom. May teens drink and smoke only to  be a part of the hip crowd. Peer pressure is very high and teens are forced to live up to a lot of expectations. They think it is fashionable to  hold bottle of beer in hand and pose for pictures.

Its not teenagers who are going through this tricky period of high presser. Parents  are equally under stress, wondering whether or not they should let go of their teenaged children. It is as confusing for them as it is for kids. Our children demand their space and  freedom. For example late night parties and weekend soirees with mixed crowds have become a regular issue.

The availability of drugs, alcohol has become common because of the big pocket money and peer pressure. Dating love affair, smoking, drinking, and even pre marital sex is no longer taboo amongst today`s teenagers.

Dear teens don`t join hip crowd just because someone thinks its cool. It high time parents and teenagers sat down and talked. If you restrict your child from every freedom possible there is a tendency of them becoming vulnerable. Following a middle path is the best.
