NEW YEAR 2020 AND VISION 2020

Hyderabad, Jan. 5. Dear Friends,
According to the Oxford dictionary,
VISION = the ability to see
VISION 20 20 = the ability to see perfectly.

Though we can find oculists at every nook and corner many are unable to see fellow human beings as they are. Seeing oneself as superior is a distortion in vision. Any superiority based on class, gender, caste, hierarchy, age, ability or whatever is a serious defect in our vision.
The rapists and murderers of Delhi, Kathua, Unnao, Asifabad or Shadnagar had eyes and minds contaminated by lust. Others are blinded by lust for power, money or privileges. When our vision is biased by prejudice, we fail to see our fellow human beings as equal in dignity.
My ONE wish for all of us this year is that our vision improves and we are able to see one another as equals, neither superior nor inferior, neither dominating nor submissive, women and men, boys and girls, living and relating as equals and with mutual respect, without hierarchical or patriarchal thinking blurring our vision.
I appreciate the decision of the AP government deciding to make every police station `women friendly` through the Mahila Mithra System by the end of 2020. The local police here have assured us that they are friends of the people and want us to join hands with them to reach this goal of total protection for women and children.
I conclude with the words of a therapist who helped many improve their vision to make genuine contact with one another:
I believe
The greatest gift
I can conceive of having from anyone is
To be SEEN by them,
HEARD by them,
To be UNDERSTOOD
And TOUCHED by them
The greatest gift I can give is
To SEE, HEAR, UNDERSTAND
And TOUCH another person.

I wish each one who receives this message makes appropriate choices so that in the YEAR 2020 our vision gets clearer and we begin ``to see one another more perfectly``. We can choose how 2020 will be.
