SALESIAN FAMILY WORKS TOGETHER

The Salesian Family of Don Bosco, Mumbai Province (SALFAL) presented a Konkani drama ``Kednam- Uttolo`` - Prince Jacob`s production on Tuesday July 6, 2010 at Yeshwant hall Matunga West, Mumbai. The show began at 8.15pm. Rev. Fr. Michael Fernandes, Provincial of the Mumbai Province and many other members of the Salesian family were present.

July 1, 2010 was a Golden day for everyone in the campus of Don Bosco - Matunga as confreres and boys gathered to wish Rev. Fr. Richard D`Souza on the Golden jubilee anniversary of his Ordination.

EDUCATION TO HUMAN RIGHTS

On the June 28, 2010, Don Bosco High School Chhotaudepur organized a one day seminar on Education to Human Rights for sixty-five teachers of the schools of Kawant, Narukot and Chhota. A special group called Udhaan from Ahmedabad which promotes Human Rights through the use of Audio Visual media conducted the seminar.

The RBI has mandated all nationalized banks to help rope into its `Financial Inclusion Programme` the four hundred plus million population that is still unbanked. The State Bank of India with over sixteen thousand four hundred plus branches have taken up this challenge pioneering an `SBI Tiny no frills account` for the urban slum communities & Rural India. This account needs no `KYC` documents, and can be opened with a zero balance, one can deposit or withdraw from Rs.10/- to Rs.10,000/- the upper limit for this account is Rs.50,000/-. They have loan schemes for various items for the rural farmers and urban slum based persons.

VALEDICTORY FUNCTION OF SANKALP

Sankalp a project for the Youth, a program designed for the Marginalized, Underprivileged, and the Dropout Youth of our city by Don Bosco Technical Training Institute Borivili. June 19, 2010 was a day to remember for all the seventy trainees who spent three months in Hotel Management training in Cookery, Bakery, Restaurant Service, and Housekeeping.

DBYASA ANIMATES MUMBAI PROVINCE

With a view to giving a renewed thrust to Youth Ministry in the Province of Mumbai, the DBYA South Asia Regional Team comprising Frs. Maria Charles, Joe Arimpoor, Raphael Jayapalan, Jude Anand and Brian Moras, animated the Youth Animators, Vocation Promoters and Principals of the Mumbai Province from June 23-24, 2010, at Don Bosco Provincial House, Matunga, Mumbai.

MAHARASHTRA STATE LEVEL CONSULTATION ON INTERNATIONAL ANTI CHILD LABOUR DAY

Balprafulta, a Don Bosco Child Rights Organization, along with Holistic Child Development of India (HCDI), Campaign against Child Labour (CACL) and CARE (Mahrashtra), on the occasion of the International Anti Child Labour Day, organized a State Level Consultation on June 11 and 12, 2010, with participants from both Government and Non-Government Organizations. For quite some time now, those working in the area of Child Labour felt that an upsurge had to be created in Maharashtra to curb the exploitation of children in the labour market. Hence Balprafulta, celebrating its Tenth Anniversary, took the initiative to bring about a convergence of various stakeholders and move towards preparing a Vision Document for the eradication of Child Labour in Maharashtra.

WOMENS SELF HELP GROUP IN KAPADVANJ

Ekta self help group of Navapura, Kapdavanj Taluka organized a women get together with fellowship meal on June 10, 2010. This celebration was called in collaboration with other four groups who were completing their three years of existence.

Don Bosco School, Nashik organized a three days workshop, an initiative of the Principal Fr. Diego Nunis. The workshop was conducted by Fr Ajoy Fernandes and Fr. Glenford Lowe. Fr Ajoy conducted a one of its kind workshop on ``Academic Problems of Children with Learning Disability`` for the first time in the Province for the Teachers of Don Bosco High School, Nashik on June 9 and June 10, 2010 and Fr Glen a one day session on the issue of ``Children attempting to die of Suicide``.
