A Great Veteran Salesian Missionary Celebrates His 95th Birthday
Guwahati, May 22 The Confreres of Guwahati province celebrated the 95th birthday of their great veteran pioneer Salesian missionary Fr. Porcu Mario in the Provincial House, Guwahati on 21st May, 2013. Fr. Mario Porcu has lived 73 glorious years in India as an exemplary and hard working Salesian, having come to this country in 1940, and has contributed a lot to the province during these years. Mumbai, May 14 Eighty Seven enthusiastic youngsters had a foretaste of the cradle of Salesian vocations at Don Bosco Lonavala, as they reflected on their own Vocation. `The Seniors` Vocation Camp for Aspirants witnessed forty five youngsters from May 2-6, while `the Juniors` camp for Apostolic boys registered forty two youngsters from May 8-11, 2012. Fr. Jacob Champanil, SDB Laid to Rest at Bandel Basilica
Kolkata, May 12 The Salesian Province of Kolkata bid a tearful farewell to Fr. Jacob Champanil SDB as his mortal remains were laid to rest at the Salesian cemetery at Basilica at 2.00 PM, on May 11, 2013. The Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Rt. Rev. Joseph Gomes, SDB the Bishop of Krishnagar with around 100 concelebrants. A large number of faithful including Salesian Family members, other Religious, parishioners and boarding children were present at the funeral. His close relatives participated in the ceremonies with inexplicable bereavement and sorrow. His nephew Fr.
