The book is based on his study of Charles de Foucauld whose life on a casual reading at the suggestion of a priest, enamored Fr. Nirmol Gomes so much as to inspire him to do a doctoral thesis to make known this great French Soldier-explorer who became also a monk and is currently hailed as a ``Blessed`` by the Catholic Church. The book based on the research project entitled ``Psycho-pedagogical study of Charles de Foucauld`s Vocational Journey` is titled as Tracing the Steps. It is aimed at religiously minded persons in search of clarity for their own vocation, and/or for the average person having an appreciation for the `inner life`.
