``Lord, I seek Your face`` - Annual Retreat at Hyderabad
By Castilino
Hyderabad, Jan. 15. The third retreat of the academic year of the Salesian Province of Hyderabad was scheduled and held in the second week of January 2012 (9th to 14th) at the Provincial house, Hyderabad.  For the 28 participants this was a beautiful opportunity to take stock of the past and plan for the spiritual journey ahead.  The retreat was preached by Fr Joe Prabu, currently the Joint-Secretary of the YaR Forum and member of the SPCSA national body.

The animator of the retreat, through his well prepared conferences and meditations offered rich insights on evangelical vows, discernment, holiness, reconciliation and community life, and thus helped all see spirituality as something practical and sensible, rather than portraying a pietistic mash up of theological ideas.  The meditation talks all focussed on community life and living.  The thoughts offered for reflection made a greater impact on its hearers, since they arose from Fr Joe`s personal life experiences, especially as a missionary in Africa for 19 years.  The selection and screening of appropriate audio-visual clips too helped the participants to remember the points shared.

Besides the abundant time for prayer, reflection and rest, the retreat offered all involved, special moments of grace through the Holy Eucharistic celebrations, adoration services and sharing of experiences. The communities and confreres of the Province were specially remembered and prayed for sincerely, time and again. The inspirational presence and earnest participation of senior confreres in the retreat too was duly acknowledged by the others.  The Mass for the deceased Salesians was a nostalgic walk down the memory lane recalling the goodness and seeking the intercession of Fr Benjamin Puthota, Fr Varricatt John, Br Gabriel Fernandes and Cl. James Thuruthel.

Fr Raminedi Balaraju, the Provincial, through his goodnight talks re-presented the decisions and deliberations of the Team Visit (March 2011) - and he did have some strong words to say too. His round the clock presence in the house with the retreatants was edifying. The appropriate ambiance was further facilitated by the generous hospitality of the Salesians and staff of the Provincial house.  This retreat was the final one of the year for general patronage.  The two former Provincial retreats too were animated by members from the SPCSA national body, Fr KJ Louis and Fr Maria Charles.
