Administrators` Meeting cum Training held

Dimapur, Jun. 28. The Annual Meeting cum Training of the administrators was held from 24 - 27 June, at Don Bosco Provincial House, Dimapur, in which 40 participated. Organized by Fr. Jose Palely, the Provincial Economer, the four-day programme consisted of both input sessions as well as training in accounting.

Fr. James Poonthuruthil, Provincial, termed the meeting cum training as an important `learning experience` in the context of changing situations and laws of administration, in his keynote address to the participants. He emphasized on the fact that administrators are stewards, entrusted with responsibility to care for people and material goods of the institutions. There is a need, he reminded, to bring about greater financial discipline. Lack of transparency brings in administrative and personal disorders, he reminded. He also pointed out the budgeting is an important requirement for the well running of an institution.  

Fr. Palely, who entirely saw to the arrangement of the meeting and training, highlighted on administration at the provincial community level and at local community level. He also gave practical guidelines on some administrative practices that should characterize Salesian communities.  

The input sessions were taken by Mr. EMS Reddy (CA), from Hyderabad. It consisted in an in-depth understanding of Forms of Registration, Registration under Societies Registration Act,  Registration as a Public charitable trust, Voluntary and Non-Government Sector including Religious institutions,  Taxation on charitable institutions, Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 1976 etc. The many and varied experiences of the resource person made the input sessions, interactions and discussions lively and comprehensible.

The last two days were geared towards learning and mastering Tally. It was facilitated by Mr. Manish Tom, from New Delhi. The participants were given hands on experience on installing and working with tally, creation of company, ledger creation, voucher entry, understanding concepts like budget, balance sheet, trial balance, inventory, cash and bank entries, contra entry, monthly statements, investments etc.
