RECTOR MAJOR ARRIVES AT DIMAPUR

Dimapur, Nov. 4. Rector Major Rev. Fr. Pascual Chavez arrived at Dimapur a mini metropolitan and the gate way to Nagaland, and Manipur on 4 November 2009, at 1.30 pm, accompanied by Regional Superior for South Asia Rev. Fr. Kanaga Maria Arokiam, Salesian Provincial New Delhi Rev. Fr. Michael Peedikayil and Rector Major`s personal secretary Rev. Fr. Juan Jose Bartholome.

At the airport Fr. Chavez was received by Fr. James Poonthuruthil, Provincial, Fr. Nestor Guria, Vice Provincial, Council members, Confreres, Salesian Sisters, Cooperators and Don Bosco Alumni.

At the Provincial House, the Rector Major Fr. Pascual Chavez was received by Fr. Jose Palely the Economer of the province, Salesians and Brothers of Salesian College. He was given a colourful traditional welcome by Don Bosco Alumni. Fr. James in his official welcome speech termed North East as ``Mini India`` and invited Rector Major to experience rich cultural heritage of North East India. Fr. James while welcoming gave a description of Dimapur meaning etymologically ``the city and the great river``. Rector Major in his first speech during the reception vividly remembered the reception accorded to him in his first trip to Dibrugarh, Upper Assam in 2005.

Rector Major is making a three day visit to the province. He will meet the Salesians, Salesian Family, Cooperators and Past Pupils.
