Hardily have the smouldering embers died down, fresh and wanton torching of churches and other Christian Institutions have begun all over again in Kandhamal and other districts of Orissa.Sequel to the assassination of Swami Lakshmanananda Swaraswati of Kandhamal by Naxalites there has been a violent uprising against the Christian Community in Orissa and particularly in Kandhamal district. That Don Bosco found a refuge - though temporary - at the St Philomena hospital and the attached refuge for girls started by Marchioness Barolo, way back in 1840s is a known fact. In a reversal of roles, this time it was the Marchioness - or rather, the Sisters of St Ann of Providence - who came asking for a place to Don Bosco!! And that is how Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad has the pride of hosting the 32nd GC of the Sisters of St Ann of Providence. Today the Sisters - our `Aunties` - gladly elected Sr Ernestine Fernadez - an Indian! - as their new Mother General. The three-day programme by Don Bosco Psycho-Social Services for the pre-novices at Don Bosco, Gunadala came to a close on 20th August 2008. Fr T.D. John (the secretary and the treasurer of Salesian Psychologists Association, SPA) conducted the Group Therapy Process for the sixteen pre-novices.
